The Cardinal Park Case - Devlog #3

Apologies for the lack of devlogs, as well as just a single image in this one.

Progress has been very, VERY slow. Like, much slower than I thought it would be. This is because:

1: I greatly underestimated how time-consuming and draining college is.

2: I have other game jam projects that I really want to work on! I’m working on another project for this jam: https://itch.io/jam/rpg-maker-horror-game-jam-7

3: A bit of a repeat of 1, but artistic burnout. I swear, I have so many cgs planned for chapters 4, 5, and the epilogue, but I fear not being able to draw them very well… Wouldn’t wanna have a dark, serious moment ruined by a meme material cg!

At the rate I’m going at, I’m probably not gonna get the rest of this done by the end of the year :( All things considered, I don’t think that development will stretch into 2026: I’m hoping to finish the game up by sometime in 2025.

Onto the actual progress stuff! So far, I only have a small part of Chapter 4 done, including the puzzle shown in the image. I’m happy that it looks pretty, but it takes so long to draw these dream maps! And considering that Chapter 4 occurs in this dream realm, I’m gonna be spending a lot of time on these maps…

If it is a consolation, though, I’ve made progress with how I want the story to be structured. If you’ve played TCPC, the choices haven’t mattered so much, just changing little bits of the dialogue. Chapter 4 will be the last place you can make a choice before the route diverges into the 2 branches of Chapter 5: those branches being named Deception and Justice. Finally, there will be an optional epilogue that will tie up all loose ends.

I’m hoping that once I finish up my current jam project, I can get to work more on this! If everything falls into place, I’ll be able to get a massive chunk of this done during winter break!

Enough of me yapping though. Thank you for following TCPC’s development! I never thought that it would receive this much love!
